Here are March's Focus Scripture (remember, you can do whatever you like for our challenge; you are not required to use our stamps or these verses to participate!):
March 3: James 1:2
March 10: Psalm 103:1
March 17: Romans 8:28
March 24: 1 Thess 5:18
March 31: Isaiah 30:15
Here is this week's verse:
This is a great verse, that continues on in James chapter 1. As a child of God you WILL have various trials in this life. It's guaranteed! But it's not the trials that separate us from the world, but rather how we understand them and respond to them. God is sovereign, meaning He is completely in control. Nothing can happen to you or me without His allowing it or purposing it. That's huge! That means whatever comes into our life as a trial, God will use to make us more like Christ. And we are to respond accordingly. Get our eyes off the trial, and onto the loving God who allowed that trial in your life at that very moment. How do you respond when a trial comes? It is to be with joy, why? We are to KNOW that the testing of our faith produces endurance! That is a good thing! Continue reading this verse on your own in your Bible to see what result endurance has. It's one to remember and memorize and submit yourself to obediently during a trial.
Belinda made us this beautiful card for today:
I have decided to do 5x7 Canvas art this month to mix it up a bit! Remember you can do whatever YOU like, from making a list of what you are grateful for to a scrapbook layout, a card, a canvas, whatever! Try something new, if you dare!
Here is the canvas I made:
I drew her in a sketch with pencil, then painted, then glued paper, chalked yellow to highlight words, then added charcoal pencil to outline her (I love this look, but it you don't like the smoky look you could use a marker or more acrylic paint). I used Inspired Stamps: JAMES 1:2 and ART JOURNAL WORDS AND FACES (word JOY)
Here is a close up of her face:
I wanted her hands raised, her face peaceful and raised as she takes all the various trials that come at her, and responds with joy. Joy not because of the trial (trials are painful, uncomfortable, and sometimes even scary), but because she knows that through this trial, her trusted God and Heavenly Father is making her more like her Savior, Jesus Christ. He's always the source of our joy! She will remind me when I'm in a trial to respond like this...fully surrendered to what He is doing!
I am hanging her by this great hanger I found at a local scrapbook store about 3 years ago! It has a place for a word, so I stamped my verse and cut out the word 'various trials'. It's the problem. The solution hangs below it: JOY!
Here is this piece hanging on my wall:

ReplyDeleteAntoinette,
ReplyDeleteThat sweet little coat hanger holder you have displayed your very lovely canvas on is really a clever idea.
Its so winderful to get these things done. i tried painting a page to do something on but it was pretty dark so maybe it will be next week.
Carole. I am very glad I won!
Wow, what a great project. Gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteWonderful projects and this scripture is a great reminder to me when trials occur what my response should be.
ReplyDeleteHi Antoinette... my page this week is quite a serendipitous... it's not what I intended at all, and I much prefer my end product to my orginal plan! I wanted to ask what version of the scripture James 1:2 have you used? I love it - it is so consise and perfectly understood!
ReplyDeleteThank you for this challenge/journal journey...it is a real blessing, and is giving me scriptural meditation. A real "time out" for me!
hugs and blessings,
Pauline
