Before we get to today's verse and artwork, I want to share the filled in Gratitude Art Journaling Pages I completed the journaling in for last week, already in my binder!:
You can see exactly how I made these pages in a tutorial I shared LAST WEEK HERE
This week's verse is showcased so well in the Sunday Scripture Design Team's Artwork:
Anita (Artist Trading Card):
Belinda (Card-Making):
DeNetra (Mixed Media):
So very lovely and so VARIED! It is what I love so much about art and the many beautiful forms it can take.
This verse is a favorite of many, and I am included in the many!! It reminds us that it's the LORD who is our strength and shield and that when we TRUST in HIM, we are helped! How many times do we go through something difficult and get our eyes so focused on the problem, that we forget where our strength and help come from? We need to TRAIN our eyes to look up FIRST, and to keep our focus on HIM. It is then we can find purpose in our difficulties, and our burdened hearts can through prayer, supplication...and THANKSGIVING be helped! So this week we again focus our eyes on HIM and give THANKS for the blessings that are so many we can't possible count them....but we are certainly trying!
I have decided to make this week a DOODLING week for my pages. I have started off with just our verse stamped onto a white piece of cardstock, trimmed and added to these 2 Simple Stories papers. Each night when I am journaling what I am grateful for I will spend a little time doodling with different sized black WATERPROOF markers (I may add glimmer mists before you see them again next Sunday, so I'm preparing with my doodling in waterproof markers):
I LOVE the blank pages....OHHHHHH the possibilities this week holds!! I made my first 'mark' by outlining the verse in black sharpie marker. I know if you want to join me on Doodling, this white, clean page may be more intimidating than helpful, so I have taken a couple of photos of other pages I've done with doodling and lettering to help you get SOME kind of idea where to go. I used watercolors and/or glimmermists after all my blackline work was complete. I will take a photo of the black line only and any color I add as I go through the week on this week's Gratitude post, so be sure to come back next week and see what it becomes!
Be sure to share YOUR artwork in the MR. LINKY below OR on our Facebook page!! We love to see what YOU are doing!!
Blessings,
Antoinette and the Scripture Sunday Design Team

Hello friends!
Today I have a very easy and very textured producing technique to share with you that I know you will love to incorporate whether you art journal, paint, scrapbook, or make cards! We are in week 3 of our 52 weeks of Gratitude Challenge and are so happy to get to see what YOU are making! Don't forget to link your blog or photo to our MR LINKY at the end of this post OR you can put your photos of your gratitude artwork up on our Facebook page! If you have not viewed our 52 Weeks of Gratitude before, please head over to the main post which will tell you what all this is about and link you to ALL our artwork posts: CLICK HERE
Here is my last week's Gratitude SCRAPBOOK layout with the week's worth of gratitude filled in:
I use lots of old hymnal pages in my Scripture Art so found this one to be really great for my gratitude on this page!
This week's verse is Inspired Stamps Psalm 47:1:
Here's Anita's ARTIST TRADING CARD:
Belinda's CARD:
DeNetra's MIXED MEDIA:
and my ART JOURNAL with photos of my step by step process:
First I just put down white, pink, and purple acrylic paint blobs
Next I put the clean paper over the paint blobs and squished them together
I opened the pages up and turned the top one around and placed it back on the paint blob sheet to mix the colors more.
Here is what it looked like then. Notice all the white left.
I put blue acrylic paint around the edges of the paper and spritzed water on it letting it run down the page to cover up much of the white and also go over the pink and purple which were DRIED when I did this (or they will run too...very cool look also, but wanted a different look today)
Do you see the veins of the paint from the squooshing I did at the beginning now more obvious because of the blue paint watered down and catching on them? This is the most exciting part for me! Don't be afraid to play and see what happens. Worse case you hate it and you put more paint over it and begin something else!
Ok, so I was at this point and needed to pull all those colors together so I grabbed my pink shimmer!!
These are my FAVORITE pearly paints and I order them online (Hobby Lobby used to carry them, but I don't find them there anymore). I put some of this over both pages to pull all the color together and used a paper towel to wipe some areas so the purple would show through more. See all the shine? See all the texture from our paint squooshing??? OH, I love love love it!!
Next, is my favorite part, the STAMPING!! I used the large rustic heart from the GUARD YOUR HEART Inspired Stamp set and the ELEGANT DOTTY ALPHABET set here with StazOn ink. (Make sure you clean your stamps immediately after using StazOn as the ink is permanent and will stay on your stamps if you don't and potentially make them unstampable in the future).
PanPastels are amazing. I used this one to color my heart in.
Next comes my Charcoal pencil around the right side of the letters and the heart to give them depth:
Then comes the white pen where I colored in the white of the letters and made dots (look at that texture! Yum!):
This photo does a better job of showing you just how WHITE that is in real life. And since I know everyone NEEDS a great white pen I have included the packaging AND the pen below so you know what you are looking for. Got this one for about $2 at Michaels and I love it!
So what does the finished page look like? Here you go...
I will share my journaling next week, as always!!
If you are wanting to get the stamps for next month (February) we have under 14 sets left in the online store at a discounted rate. CLICK HERE to go to that page directly
We would LOVE to see what YOU are making for your GRATITUDE ART!! You don't need to use our stamps (of course we love it when you do!) or even the same verse to participate! Just link your photo or page with Mr Linky below OR upload your photo to our Facebook Page!! WE WILL BE CHOOSING several winners randomly each month to win a STAMP SET of their Choice FREE!! The more of our weeks you enter, the better your chances of winning! Please let your friends know about our challenge!!
