Day 22: Taking your Art Journal Pages off of the page!

Hello friends,
Today I want to encourage you to take your time to find one of your favorite art journaling pages and TAKE THEM OFF THE PAGE!  Not literally OUT of your art journal, but to recreate something you can have in your room or on your desk where you see it all the time.  After making the cut up LABELMAKER VERSES pages this week, I made the following canvases to take those ideas off the pages of my art journal:

I painted behind and then added the HYMN GIRLS: MAY (above) and HYMN GIRLS: January from the Inspired Stamps online store and LABELMAKER VERSES

What fun!

Day 19: Tutorial on using Labelmaker Verses

 

Today I used different stamps from the ART JOURNALING WORDS AND FACES stamp set and the heart from the HYMN set with different colors of Distress Inks to get this colorful dylusions' sprayed background.  I used HYMN GIRLS: April because the verse talks about God being our refuge and I picture myself under Him taking refuge!

I used the LABELMAKER VERSES stamp set (a variety of these are coming this summer because this set has been so popular with card-makers and art journalers alike!).  The verse comes so you stamp all the words at once (it's one stamp set per verse in this set) as shown in the above sample here:

 

But they are GREAT to cut out, into individual words as shown in the bottom half of that photo.  Here is how they look on this layout just stamped out:

I could mat that and it would look great, but I  wanted to cut up the verse to create the Bible text for this 2 page spread shown here:

 

A whole new look with that stamp set just by gluing each word down and using a black marker around each word!

Day 18: Labelmaker Verses

 

Hello friends,

 Today I am using our Labelmaker Verses, cut out and glue to the page here I used with dylusions new slate gray color--love it!!

Here's the full 2 page spread for today from my Art Journal (also have a new HYMN GIRLS: MARCH stamp with just a little gray color on her, too)

Day 12: Stamping Mixed Media: part 2 (layered canvas)

Hello friends!  Be sure to click on the 31 Days of Stamping Mixed Media link to the right of the blog to see part 1 of this post.  Here is where we left off; now the base is dry:

 Next, I stamped the verse I wanted from Inspired Stamps:  LABELMAKER VERSES:

 I tore out the first 3 words individually and left the last 3 as a set:  inking the edges:

 I wanted to tone down some of the areas so I applied gesso with a paper towel:

 I used a stamp from Inspired Stamps: BACKGROUND STAMPS and inked up a small section of it to stamp onto the canvas.  Clear stamps are great to use for this technique!

You can also apply paint to the clear stamp and press it to the canvas as shown in the next 2 photos:

 Just rinse off your stamp with clean water after using and your stamp will be fine!  Next I took HLO: praying boy and inked him up, matted him with black paper, and used foam to give him dimension:

 I used Momento black ink on the edges (you can use black paint, if you prefer):

 I stamped another stamp (the distressed song 'Holy Holy Holy' from BACKGROUND STAMPS) inked and matted it and then put the character with his mat on top before putting some white paint onto a toothbrush and flicking white splatters onto the entire canvas:

 I love charcoal pencils and used them on several places in this canvas; a stump will then blend it out:

 I added some metal, pearl brads, a flower, and bow to the canvas for this finished view:

I stamped the word PRAISE from the Labelmaker Verses in white ink at the bottom and added a metal arrow and more pearl spots to it.

I wish you could see this in person; I really really love the way it turned out and as good as photos are, they just don't capture the deep tones in this piece!
